Dr. Jeffrey Harrison

Board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Ogden

Dr. Jeffrey Harrison is a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Baylor University. He completed his orthopedic surgery training at the University of Utah, followed by additional training with Dr. Hans Staubli, one of Europe’s finest knee surgeons, in Bern, Switzerland. He concluded his training with a one-year sports medicine fellowship with Dr. Frank Noyes in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Harrison became the first fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon in Northern Utah. In 1998, he teamed up with Dr. Thomas Calton, a fellowship-trained total joint specialist, and the two formed the Calton-Harrison Clinic. Over the years, Dr. Harrison recruited an additional seven specialized, fellowship-trained surgeons in trauma, spine, hand, foot and ankle, and total joint surgery. He also recruited four non-operative sports medicine specialists to evaluate and treat non-operative musculoskeletal injuries. This allowed Dr. Harrison to dedicate and focus his practice on knee and shoulder preservation surgery.

A comprehensive team approach to orthopedic care

Dr. Harrison, in conjunction with Intermountain Healthcare, helped develop the Intermountain McKay Sports Medicine Center, where his office and practice are located. This center offers a comprehensive team approach to patient care with high-tech imaging, such as: X-ray, CT scans, and MRI machines; aquatic therapy; a “return to sports” program; and physical therapy services, including hand and occupational therapy.

With a highly skilled operative team and state-of-the-art facility, Dr. Harrison performs over 800 surgeries per year, outperforming the average orthopedic surgeon, who performs 250 to 300 surgeries annually. Dr. Harrison’s surgical expertise and specific scope of practice equates to better outcomes, lower complication rates, and shorter operative times—resulting in successful outcomes. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Harrison constantly strives to find innovative and more efficient surgical techniques for knee and shoulder, and currently holds a patent in ACL Fixation surgery.
